LEAD SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR SERVICES (1 YEAR)

SCOPE OF WORK:
Lead Systems Administrators are being sought to carry out operational activities, including the monitoring and administration of the stated infrastructure components and services in response to requests from authorised stakeholders and approved projects and plans.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under this engagement, the Lead Systems Administrators will be required to conduct the following tasks related to NGINX, Drupal, WordPress, Liferay DXP, Red Hat JBoss Server, and Springboot.
- Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all services and verifying the completion of scheduled tasks.
- Provision new / rebuild existing servers and configure services in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
- Provides technical input and guidance relevant to databases to project/maintenance teams.
- Installs and configures software, tools, or updates on supported environments
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted customers.
- Applies OS patches and upgrades regularly, and upgrades administrative tools and utilities.
- Performs ongoing performance tuning, upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
- Performs regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
- Develops and maintains installation and configuration procedures.
- Contributes to and maintains system standards.
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks.
- Provides support per request from various customers. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
- Satisfactorily resolves all incidents and requests assigned within the specifications of defined SLAs
- Provides timely updates on assigned incidents and requests to the Customer and/or Customer Service
- Conducts knowledge transfer sessions to develop team members’ awareness and skills.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution
- At least one of the following Operating System Certifications
- MS Windows Server (2012 or later)
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- At least four (4) years’ experience in the administration and management of Red Hat Linux/Windows-based Servers, including Shell/ PowerShell scripting
- At least four (4) years’ experience with the monitoring and management of virtualized servers using VMWare’s VCenter, Microsoft Hyper-V or Nutanix’s Acropolis hypervisors.
- At least three (3) years’ experience managing websites or /web application platforms using Drupal, WordPress, IBM Websphere Application Server, Red Hat’s JBoss, Liferay’s DXP, Springboot.
DESIRED COMPETENCIES:
- Good Communication Skills
- Ability to work as a team lead
- Experience with current Internet Technologies and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, etc)
- Experience with High-Availability design and implementation (failover systems and data replication).
- Experience with SAN/NAS storage technologies
- Experience with automation/configuration management using Puppet, Chef, Ansible or similar
- Knowledge of DevOps methods and CI/CD automation practices
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, LXC, etc.)
- Knowledge of system and data migration practices and technologies
The salary is J$6.49 million for the period attached to this position.
