Procurement of Transportation Services for eGov Jamaica

eGov Jamaica Limited (eGovJa) invites bids from eligible bidders to provide Staff Transportation Service at its offices located at 235B Old Hope Road, Kingston 6.

To be eligible, local bidders should have a PPV License issued by the Transport Authority of Jamaica.  They are also required to provide the following:

  1. Copy of valid Pubic Procurement Commission (PPC) Registration in the category of Transportation Haulage
  2. Copy of valid Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC) or Tax Compliance Letter (TCL)
  3. Proof of valid Public Employers Liability Insurance (P&ELI) that covers all company operatives and /or person(s) acting on the Contractor’s behalf, or in their interest

MDAs Urged To Cooperate With eGov Jamaica’s Data-Gathering Exercise

Science, Energy and Technology Minister, Hon. Fayval Williams, is encouraging government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to cooperate with the data-gathering activities being undertaken by eGov Jamaica Limited in preparation for the entity’s transition to the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Authority of Jamaica.

Minister Williams, who was speaking at eGov Jamaica’s networking event, dubbed ‘Exec Connect’, at Hope Gardens, St. Andrew, recently, said that the data-gathering exercise will provide detailed information about the ICT needs of the MDAs.

eGov Jamaica Prepares For Transition

Chief Executive Officer (CEO), eGov Jamaica Limited, Maurice Barnes, says preparation by the agency to transition into its role as the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Authority of Jamaica is in the final phase.

Speaking at the second in the series of GovTechTalk information sessions, held on Friday (January 31) at the company’s Old Hope Road address in Kingston, Mr. Barnes pointed out that full transition should be achieved by the end of the year.

Minister urges speedier move to digital society

Minister of Science, Energy and Technology (MSET), Fayval Williams says that the time is right for Jamaica to move with more speed towards implementation of a digital society.

“We simply cannot afford to be left behind the rest of the world, or even our Caribbean counterparts, and I think we are behind. But, being Jamaican, I think we are going to sprint our way through and overtake everybody else,” the minister told guests at the launch of the new national Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) project at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel in St Andrew on Wednesday.

E-Passports On The Horizon

Jamaicans are on the cusp of receiving electronic passports (e-passports) as part of the transformation process taking place at the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA).

This forms part of the new national Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) project, which was launched on Wednesday at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel, St Andrew.

The PKI project will be rolled out during the next seven months, with the objective of making Jamaica a more digital society, in which there is ubiquitous use of information and communications technology in all spheres, such as home, work, school and recreation.

It also forms part of the Government’s National Identification System (NIDS), and will enable trusted electronic identities for people, services and things, and make it possible to implement strong authentication, data encryption and digital signatures, based on a certifying authority.

New National Project Launched Under NIDS

A new National Public Key Infrastructure (NPKI) project has been launched by the Government under the National Identification System (NIDS) programme.

The launch took place on Wednesday (January 15) at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel, in Kingston.

The NPKI project will be rolled out during the next seven months, with the objective of making Jamaica a more digital society in which there is ubiquitous use of information and information and communications technology (ICT) in all spheres, such as home, work, school and recreation.

This project will enable trusted electronic identities for people, services and things, and make it possible to implement strong authentication, data encryption and digital signatures, based on a certifying authority.

Technology Minister Urges Gov’t Agencies To Embrace Imminent ICT Authority

Technology Minister, Fayval Williams, is calling on government agencies to embrace the soon to be created Information and Communication Technology Authority, ICTA.

She says the authority will coordinate all ICT functions of the government and supplant the free for all system which currently exists.

eGov Jamaica Launches GovTechTalk Series

eGov Jamaica Limited, on Thursday (Nov. 28), launched its GovTechTalk Series for workers in the Government information sector.

The GovTech Talk series, which will be held on the fourth Friday of each month, with the exception of December 2019, will last 90 minutes per session and will include a 20-minute presentation on the topic of the day, and a question and answer session.

It will focus on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) plans and initiatives in the Government and will target ICT Heads across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

eGov Jamaica Limited Driving Digital Government Framework Facilitation

Chief Executive Officer of eGov Jamaica Limited, Maurice Barnes, says the entity is spearheading initiatives to facilitate a digital government framework where major services can be accessed by citizens via online platforms.

Speaking at a recent Jamaica Information Service (JIS) Think Tank, Mr. Barnes explained that the idea is to allow citizens to become more connected with government service delivery utilising a digital format.
